A Moment

So I spent the last couple afternoons at the beach...taking some time to myself.
I knew it already, but learned it again today...that I LOVE being with people. I don't even need to say anything (although if asked about myself, I would more than love to share a few details....as I'm pretty sure anyone would).

Anyhow, I'm sitting there, burning in the sun (I'm incredibly responsible), and this older woman comes up to me and asks me for the time.

(This is about the "moment" that I told her what time it was...)

So we sat and chatted a bit and then she left in her full piece, floral swimsuit (with skirt)...most likely from the 80's...heck, it was probably older than that...and she went for a wee dip in the ocean.

So I sat there, watching her walk away...and felt entirely blessed to have that small amount of conversation. It was actually so beautiful that I could've shed a tear (and by that I mean that I may or may not have shed a...small...tear...cough).

Maybe those who read this won't understand what I felt in that wee 'moment'...but I think that many of my friends would agree that we need people. I believe that God intended for us to live in community with one another, helping each other out and encouraging one another. We need friends and family to help us grow and learn more about the God that loves us so much.

Anyhow. The older woman spoke to me again before she left the beach...she floated out in that frigid water for 25 minutes...I lasted approximately 2 minutes. So kudos to her!

And that's the end of the moment...

  1. Yeah, that was actually me; weird you didn't realize that, especially after we talked for, like, thirty minutes...

PS: I bought that suit three summers ago, not in the "EIGHTIES".
