Apocalypto and Leather Thongs

So yesterday my roommate and I went to see 'Apocalypto.' It's the new movie by Mel Gibson, so I realized that I should probably expect some blood and guts going into this one. Anyhow, for the most part the movie was well done. I'll give Mel some credit for bringing me into his little world and keeping me entertained and focused for the first 1.5 hours of the movie (I did almost shed a tear during the first 30 minutes). I wouldn't send just anyone to see this one, but if you can handle some nudity, men in leather thongs, lots of large facial piercings and well, blood.....I'd say that you should give this one a shot.
Anyhow, during the final 45 minutes, I actually found myself laughing at this movie. This is a typical reaction of mine when a movie has 'lost me,' or in turn, made me bored. It may have also been that I was just plain tired of seeing unnecessary violence and brutality. I didn't laugh out loud lest people think I was being completely disgusting laughing during a 'bloody' scene.....but I was definitely cracking jokes to myself and having a grand ol' time in my own little world. Here are my top five picks for the funniest parts in Mel Gibson's 'Apocalypto':

1) The main character outrunning a jaguar (the character's name was 'jaguar paw'....how fitting)
2) The wife to this character giving birth (in two short pushes) to a baby....and did I mention that she's in a very deep hole and that the hole is filling quickly with rain water.....yes.....
3) The fact that Mel felt the need to include the (up close and personal) details of the jaguar ripping a man's face apart. Note to Mel: I realized that the man wasn't going to make it when the jaguar pounced at him, knocking him to the ground.
4) Having one of the characters drop the f-bomb on another character.....did they really use the 'f' word in that culture? You tell me....
5) Leather thongs and bare bums....I mean, who wouldn't find that funny nearing the end of a 2.5 hr movie?

Anyhow, I guess that completes blog entry #2...hope you had a good laugh. I know I sure did.
